Heritage Hunt 2015 is a non-profit community event organised with the aim to:
1. Reverse neighbourhood decline
2. Highlight the heritage and culture of the place before it is lost or crowded out by development
3. Rekindle the community’s pride for their heritage and culture
4. Bring together local community groups and businesses for a common goal
5. Help independent local businesses (especially traditional businesses) to evolve and adapt to sharply increasing rental prices due to abolishment of Rent Control Act and assist them to compete with large shopping malls
6. Encourage neighbourhood spirit and walkability
A WHOLE COMMUNITY EVENT
Heritage Hunt 2015 is a whole community event as the games/challenges at each of the 14 stations throughout Pulau Tikus are designed with and mainly run by the village community, association or traditional –
Pulau Tikus Heritage Guidebook
Concurrent with this event, we will also launch a Pulau Tikus Heritage Guidebook to further promote the heritage, culture, people and traditional businesses of Pulau Tikus to the greater public. Event activities and this guide book are products of research, interviews and discussions with numerous community representatives.
Put together, more than 300 local people will be involved in the running of the whole event on the day, so we aim to achieve at least 300 participants as well.
TEAMS & REGISTRATION
Participants must register as a team of 3 – 5 people. Teams are encouraged to provide a team name; eg. Hakuna Matata, Team A, Team Liverpool
Normal Registration fee: RM100 for a team of 3 to 5 persons
Pulau Tikus Resident: If any team member is a resident of Pulau Tikus (including foreigners residing in Pulau Tikus, which extends from Island Plaza / Mt Erskine to Jln Perak / Jln Datuk Keramat), the whole team may register for FREE. Please register at Pusat Khidmat KADUN Pulau Tikus, 34 Jalan Jones, Pulau Tikus.
GOODIE BAG & PRIZES
Every participant will receive a goodie bag that includes t-shirt, newly released Pulau Tikus Heritage Guidebook, a Discovery Map, and offers and products from local independent businesses. All teams will also stand a chance to win attractive Lucky Draw Prizes.
Cash prizes will be awarded to teams that complete the most numbers of stations; ie. based on number of stamps collected. Winner: RM1500, 2nd Place: RM1000, 3rd Place: RM500.
All teams that collect 10 or more stamps must show their map with stamps collected to the Registration Counter BEFORE 1:00PM on the day of the event. If 2 or more teams collect the same number of stamps, these teams will go into a draw to determine the winner; eg. If 7 teams fully complete all stations, then all 7 teams will go into a draw to determine winner of RM1500, RM1000 and RM500. Please note: Only 3 teams will win cash prize. In example given, only 3 out of 7 teams will walk away with cash prizes. Cash will be transferred into the team leader’s bank account after the event.
